DATE NIGHT

It’s 7:00 on a Friday night. Holding a glass of red wine in one hand and my satin heels hanging from their straps in the other, I pad barefoot to the bathroom. A quick wipe of the steam on the mirror from my showers just moments earlier reveals me: hair still in pin curls, black dress unzipped at its back, and makeup undone. As Billie Holiday’s melodic voice drifts from elsewhere in the apartment, I dab of concealer where I needed it (those pesky areas of discoloration and redness). Rather than relying on the overused bristles of my favorite makeup brush, I use my fingers to pat it against my skin, blending it easily onto a pristine surface.

Next up: a brush of mascara across my upper and lower lashes and a soft, winged eyeliner. After dusting my face with blush and a finishing powder, I apply a coat of cinnamon-brown colored lipstick and an ultra-hydrating tinted lip oil to finish the look off. By misting volume spray through my damp curls to combat the frizziness while adding some much-needed shine and body. Lastly, I dab a rich and woodsy perfume to my inner-wrists and neck; my go-to choice for evenings like these.

By 7:30, I’m slipping my stain heels onto my now-stockinged feet and slipping my essentials into a diamond-encrusted clutch. For my night out, I only need four things: my lipstick for quick touch ups, the travel version of the perfume, a mini wallet, and a comb for any hair strands that may fall out of place. I leave my phone at home, as there’s no one I’d rather talk to than the person taking me out to dinner who I fall more in love with every day. I’ll never grow tired of knowing that no matter what lipstick I decide to wear or how I style my hair, I’ll always feel beautiful when I’m with them. Xx
