FESTIVAL FITS

Festival Season is upon us, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve already started planning your outfits. From Ultra, to Coachella, to Lollapalooza, while I am there for the music, I’m also there for the fashion. Seeing everybody’s unique sense of style come out to  play is something really special. But again, if you’re like me, sometimes you don’t even know where to start, especially when there is no right or wrong way to dress. Have no fear, I am here to help. Here are 5 of the most popular trends in festival dressing you’re bound to see this year.

Two of a Kind

Matching sets are so incredibly cute, and automatically make you look put together. Whether it’s a rave outfit, or just a casual knit set, being matchy matchy elevates any look.

A Meshy Situation

Mesh. Mesh shirts, mesh pants, mesh gloves, mesh, mesh, mesh everywhere. Again, there are so many ways to incorporate mesh into your outfit. The first step is picking what type of mesh you want. Do you want a more opaque mesh that you can wear as an outfit itself? Or do you want a translucent mesh, so you can show off the killer bikini, or rave set you just got? Or maybe a little bit of both? There is no wrong way to wear mesh, and given how sheer it is, you’re sure to keep cool.

Linked In

Now, I’m not really sure what to call this look, but it reminds me a bit of chainmail, given how every piece is linked together so let's call it that. Chainmail (made out of a variety of materials, and in a variety of styles) is sure to be a big trend this year. Leonie Hann was seen wearing multiple iterations of it at last year’s Coachella, and her looks are honestly the perfect example of how versatile the style is. Whether worn as a whole dress, a skirt, or a top, this look is perhaps one of the most glam on the list, just be prepared to be carrying around a little weight, depending on the thickness and material of the chain.

KISS: Keep It Simple - Swimsuits

Not only the perfect base to any festival outfit, but also a perfect option for a top as well, you can’t go wrong with the classic bikini. It pairs well with many of the other styles on this list, but can also be worn as a top on its own. Try layering some chainmail, or mesh over the bottom, or letting the top shine solo.

When In Doubt, Cowboy It Out

A surefire way to keep the sun off of your face, and the perfect accessory to any festival fit, a cowboy hat is a tried and true classic. As you stare at your outfits, almost ready to be packed, you may be thinking that something is missing. And I can tell you exactly what it is: a cowboy hat.
